K9 Field Training Exercise
ITOA K9 FTX course provides K9 teams and patrol officers with challenging deployment scenarios. The courses work to improve handlers’ tactical skill sets and leadership training. Teamwork is essential among K9 teams, patrol officers, & SWAT operators. This training is open to K9 Teams at all skill levels.
The ITOA Tactical Canine Committee believes K9 handlers are "tactical officers" in every sense of the term. By the very nature of this duty, handlers are expected to deploy into a critical incident with his/her K9 partner to locate a fleeing offender who is often times armed. It is the goal of our committee to not only provide K9 Teams with relevant training, but also to provide patrol and SWAT officers training on how to best work with a K9 Team during a critical high risk incident.
