Immediate Trauma Care: Self-Aid / Buddy-Aid Instructor Course

Date: March 17-19, 2025

Time: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Location: Algonquin, McHenry County, IL

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  In the face of a traumatic injury, the ability to swiftly and accurately identify and treat serious injuries within the first few minutes can be the difference between life and death.  This three-day, 24-hour Instructor course is not just a training, it's a life-saving opportunity. It has been meticulously designed to equip first responders with the skills to become instructors, empowering them to teach life-saving skills.  This program will not only provide the knowledge, specialized skills, and associated materials but also instill the confidence to develop, implement, and teach Immediate Trauma Care End User Course to Police Officers and firefighters/EMS personnel at their respective departments.

Students will undergo comprehensive and in-depth instruction on the preparation and application of basic and advanced trauma care. The training is designed to provide first responders with a thorough understanding and practical skills to treat and survive traumatic injuries, including, but not limited to, severe bleeding, airway management, shock treatment, and hypothermia prevention. The fact that these techniques are already implemented and practiced by emergency medical services and the U.S. military should further reassure you of the thoroughness of this training.

Students will not just learn but also practice how to use and teach the proper use and limitations of tourniquets, wound packing gauze, pressure point placement/usage, pressure dressings, occlusive dressings, Shock identification, and hypothermia prevention. This hands-on approach will ensure that you are not just knowledgeable, but also skilled in these life-saving techniques.

An immediate trauma pack and equipment, to include: (1) CAT or (1) SOFT tourniquet, (1) SWAT tourniquet, (1) compressed gauze, (1) OLAES pressure dressing, (1) HALO chest seal-2 pack, (1) emergency blanket, (1) trauma sheers, and (1) nasopharyngeal, will be available for purchase upon sign up at a discounted rate and will also be available for sale at the end of the course for $95 (valued at $120).  All items within the kit will be taught and practiced during the 24-hour course.

ITOA Members course only: $500.

Non-Members course only: $540 (includes a 1-year ITOA membership)

A portion of the proceeds will go towards the purchase of Stop the Bleed
